Cornwall Open

The first Cornwall Open was held in June 1957 after which the match and handicap committee headed by Mr. Ken Robertson, who is still an active playing member of the Club, somehow convinced the Board of Directors that they could stage an "Open" tournament. Without any background information to assure the Board of success, they set up a budget with $1,000 in professional prize money as well as funding for amateur prizes. A great feeling of relief was experienced when the entries eventually arrived in sufficient numbers to assure the tournament would take place as scheduled.

Since 1957 amateur and professional golfers from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and Northern New York have been making the annual trek to compete in the Cornwall Open.

Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors who have made our Open a perpetual and prosperous event since 1957.
